How can we become more resilient at work?

  • The workplace can present a range of stressors to employees and managers alike. Deadlines, restructures, organisational change, employee conflict and support (or a lack of) can all have an impact on an individual’s capacity to cope when faced with stress.
  • Some people can deal with stressful situations better than others, mainly due to being more resilient. These people thrive whilst others around them start to crumble under pressure. The good news is that resilience is not a fixed entity – it can be taught.
  • In our Building Resilience at Work eLearning course, we look at how to draw up a plan for a more resilient workplace for both ourselves and for others. We are all responsible for workplace wellbeing - the more people that embrace it, the more successful it will be.

Building Resilience at Work eLearning Course

Course duration – 45 minutes (approx.)

Resilience is typically thought to be about being able to survive and withstand psychological trauma. However, it is also about the ability to learn, grow and thrive as a result of the experiences we have. We all have resilience, and we all are capable of learning more. The key is to learn resilience techniques and practice them.

In the Building Resilience at Work eLearning course, we look at how to change our perception of stressful events that happen at work by challenging negative thoughts. This goes beyond simply ‘thinking positively’ – it’s about how to base our actions based on logic and evidence rather than preconceived beliefs and assumptions.
