It is the responsibility of all employers to ensure the wellbeing of their staff. They have a duty of care to keep employees both physically and mentally safe. The Equality Act 2010 also stipulates that employers must prevent discrimination in the workplace and ensure everyone is treated fairly.
Line managers are ideally placed to facilitate this. They see people on an everyday basis, so know what would be considered ‘normal’, or whether something has changed that needs further attention.
